Brian Barnes

Social Studies/Advisor

Hello Rosa Parks Community,

My name is Brian Barnes and I am excited to be joining you for my first year at Rosa Parks, and my 8th year of teaching.  Most of my career has taken place in alternative settings in the Twin Cities. Upon my family’s relocation to SouthEast Minnesota, I was thrilled to find an environment like Rosa Parks.

Before living in the Twin Cities, I grew up in Blue Earth, Minnesota, and attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter Minnesota.  I currently live in St. Charles, MN, which is (sort of) a midway point between Rochester and Lacrosse, where my wife Elizabeth, works at the University.

I am a bit of a Social Studies nerd, but outside of school, I spend my time golfing, hiking with my dog, using our season tickets to University of Minnesota football, along with many other activities with my two kids.  My son Malcolm is just shy of 3, and my daughter Myrtice is 7 months.
